I grew up before malls. We went downtown to shop. We dressed nicely too...no sloppy jeans and shirts. That was for yardwork!
Running all over town comparing prices and shopping was fun. There were so few choices...just a few stores to checkout, grabbing an ice cream in between. Nowadays, shopping is a "whole different ballgame"! We have the world to choose from...at our fingertips. I have found that merchants are charging all kinds of prices. To run around the net checking them all out would be a lot harder than checking out a couple of stores in the old days.

Make Smart Shopping Choices
I want to read the book, Boundaries by Cloud and Townsend. It was first recommended by my personal Financial Guru, Dave Ramsey. My constant internet shopping companion, http://www.myshoppinggenie.com/sandra sent me to EBay where the book was available on that particular day at the lowest price. But wait, there is another source...the public library. I found the book there. I had to place it on hold as it is popular but I will get it in a week or so. $0!!! Can't beat that. Plus, I will read the book and return it. No extra clutter book to be on the shelf collecing dust.

Frugality With Class
Hope everyone had a beautiful weekend and spent it just as you wanted! As we prepare to get back into the workday week, our thoughts turn once more to providing for our families, paying our bills, getting our taxes done, buying groceries, shopping online, and other everyday activities.
One of my new passions is working out and reaching the highest level of fitness that I can attain. I spend an hour or two a day in yoga, kickboxing, dance, or lifting weights to reach my goal. I had much to learn about each of these before I reached a level of comfort and security.
In another part of my life, I am also learning and striving to reach the highest level of "fitness" that I can attain. Yes, I am retired but I am a gogetter and an entrepeneur at heart. I was a high school math teacher for 29 years and now, finally, have lots of time for me. One of my businesses is face to face math tutoring which adds to my retirement income allows me to continue in this field that I love....just not too much!

Friday's Frugality
I just got lucky saving money today. My husband and I LOVE Extra Sugar Free Gum. Although I hear that gum chewing activates your brain cell activity by 20%, that is not why we chew it. We just love it and it keeps us from eating more and more. Today I was at Walgreen's and our gum, which is usually $2.49, was .67!!!!! That is a savings of almost 75%! Wow! Guess how many I bought? About 12 packs! We're set! What a real bargain. What a real deal!

Of course, movie theaters give Srs. a discount too. Kohl's and Ross have special shopping days for Srs with additional discounts. What I have learned is just ASK!
